Job Duties:
The qualified candidate in this position is responsible for boiler plant operation and monitoring while on watch. 2nd Class Fireman license is REQUIRED. Boiler plant operation includes (but not limited to):
Core Responsibilities
- Start, stop, and operate boilers, auxiliaries, compressors, pumps, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Read gauges, check meters, log operational data (pressure, temp, water levels), and monitor alarm panels.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues (leaks, overheating), and make minor repairs (valves, belts).
- Conduct tests (alkalinity, sulfate) and manage water chemistry to prevent corrosion.
- Enforce safety protocols, report unsafe conditions, respond to emergencies, and maintain regulatory logs.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Boiler theory, steam systems, fuel/water/draft systems.
- Basic electrical, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Strong observation, troubleshooting, and communication.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Typical Environment
- Power plants, factories, hospitals, universities, large commercial buildings.
- Requires a state-issued 2nd Class Fireman's License.

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
