The position involves working closely with pediatric and general dentistry cases, utilizing advanced imaging technologies like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Monitor vital signs and provide basic patient care before, during, and after procedures
- Maintain aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of infection control within the clinic
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with dental reception staff
- Stay current with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and advancements in dental technology such as 3D scanners
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting; familiarity with general dentistry procedures preferred
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical imaging equipment is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining patient comfort
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and orthodontics
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant coursework is preferred but not mandatory for internship positions
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
