Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
• Take and develop X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
• Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding
• Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
• Monitor vital signs and provide basic patient care before, during, and after procedures
• Maintain aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of infection control within the clinic
• Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions
• Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with dental reception staff
• Stay current with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and advancements in dental technology such as 3D scanners

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting; familiarity with general dentistry procedures preferred
• Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical imaging equipment is a plus
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining patient comfort
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and orthodontics
• Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages including pediatrics
• Certification in dental assisting or relevant coursework is preferred but not mandatory for internship positions
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
