  • Communicates with Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation and appropriate pricing. Promptly follows through with Buyer directions.
  • Maintains and operates departmental equipment.
  • Develops and mentors the Assistant Department Mgr to prepare them to take on a leadership role with the department (if applicable).
  • Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations (if applicable) based on the needs of the business and according to upcoming special store events.
  • Communicates regularly with scan department to resolve incorrect information and ensure correct pricing.
  • Devise game plans and plan-o-grams for merchandising of the department based on ads and display profitability.
  • Follows established cleaning procedures.
  • Fully understands the retail label systems, communicates with Scan, General Management,

and/or Buying teams to ensure correct pricing.

  • Functions as a working manager willing to perform any department responsibility as needed.
  • Handles damages/returns and ensures that proper credits have been received from vendors.
  • Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to effectively oversee the ordering of departmental supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
  • Supervises and performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Trains employees in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and job duties to ensure they are working in a productive and safe manner.
  • Coordinates vendor invoices, SKH invoices and inter-company transfers on a daily basis to ensure timely billing.
  • Previous managerial experience in a meat department and meat cutting skills required.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and/or hear.
