Lanteris Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to support the design and development of our satellite systems in our offices in San Jose, CA. Bus Electronics Design mechanical engineering is comprised of various roles that contribute to the design and development of electrical units for the power, propulsion, and avionics subsystems supporting the bus (main body) of the satellites. These roles design and develop new electrical units including various subassemblies such as the chassis and circuit card assemblies (CCAs), create and release CAD design models and drawings (using Creo), and support manufacturing assembly and test. All roles involve significant collaboration with interdisciplinary teams from multiple subsystems.

  • Mechanical Component Design

  • Electronics Design Packaging

  • Structural Analysis

  • Thermal Analysis

  • Vibration and Thermal Testing Support

  • Manufacturing Engineering Support

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with completion of two years or more, or Master's degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar suite

  • Interest in aerospace or mechanical design

  • Ability to work on-site in San Jose, CA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and leadership skills

  • Group project experience, ability to collaborate with team members of different technical disciplines

  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (such as Creo or Solidworks), engineering analysis programs, and/or Printed Wiring Board design tools

  • Experience or interest in process improvement techniques

The base pay for this position within California is: $ $31.00 hourly

The salary range listed is based on two years or more of completed studies.  This range will vary based on the number of years of experience and work location.
