- Primary responsibility is servicing a customer located in Austin, Texas; therefore, the position requires residence within the local area. The role also involves occasional travel to other customer locations, approximately 25% of the time.
This typically involves travel to a customer site on a Monday, performing an installation or service, and returning home no later than Friday.
MKS Instruments is seeking a
Field Service Engineer in the Austin Texas
area. This individual will provide highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Manage installation and repair of Liquid and Dry Ozone, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Residual Gas Analyzer (RGA) products for key accounts in US.
You are responsible for:
- Providing highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, servicing and repair of complex equipment and systems.
- Checking out and approving operational quality of system equipment.
- Serving as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
- Responsible for operational quality of system equipment.
What will you bring to the team, along with your curiosity:
- Associate's degree, or equivalent combinations of work and school
- Bachelor's degree and/or applicable certification is preferred.
- 5 years of related Semiconductor or similar industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong analytic, business and interpersonal skills
- Motivated, self-driven, positive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, high tech environment.
Physical Demands:
- Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
- Occasionally moves/positions objects > 100 pounds.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for 20% of the time
- Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level
- Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand

Working Conditions:
- Operates in laboratory, field, and manufacturing environments
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat
- Noise level in the work environment is usually average
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range:
$90,000 – 125,000 qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
Bonus:
This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS (or as applicable).
