Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the accounting and financial reporting requirements of Samuel Automation, an automation and engineered‑to-order business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records related to project accounting, inventory, and cost tracking while supporting month‑end close, audit requirements, and internal controls. The role works closely with Shared Services, Operations, Supply Chain, and Project Management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries related to project costs, WIP, accruals, and inventory
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including variance analysis
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations (inventory, WIP, accruals, fixed assets)
  • Support project accounting activities, including cost capture and percent complete revenue recognition calculations
  • Assist with inventory accounting (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods), and adjustments
  • Track and reconcile goods received not invoiced (GRNI) and project‑related accruals
  • Prepare financial reports utilizing ERP, Oracle FCC, Excel and Power BI
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls
  • Assist in improving accounting processes across ERP and project systems
  • Calculate and reconcile sales commissions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or progress toward CPA is preferred
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience in manufacturing, automation, or project‑based environments
  • Solid understanding of project or job‑cost accounting and inventory accounting 
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Encompix, Oracle FCC or similar) is an asset
  • Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, analysis, pivot tables)
  • Experience with consolidations and developing financial models is an assets

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $76,000 to $95,000 . Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for this role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth.
