Overview
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an IT Applications Developer MMIS to play a key role in developing and supporting the mainframe systems that power critical Medicaid services. This full?time/permanent on?site role in Lincoln, Nebraska requires a detail?oriented developer with COBOL expertise who enjoys solving complex production issues, enhancing system performance, and contributing to large?scale development efforts in a structured mainframe environment. Position is located on?site at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln. No remote or hybrid work available. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services does not sponsor or transfer non?immigrant work visas for these positions, including STEP?OPT. Responsibilities
You will perform development, maintenance, and production support for the states mainframe Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). Work with business analysts, senior developers, and Medicaid program staff to implement efficient technical solutions to business needs. Other job duties include: Write, debug, document, and test COBOL/DB2/CICS programs in a mainframe environment. Analyze and resolve production issues. Create detailed system design documents for system enhancement projects. Assist senior application developers in large, complex development projects. Maintain technical documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
Preferred qualifications: Associates degree in computer programming or similar area. Experience developing and testing COBOL programs. Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Experience with JCL and CICS. Experience with the software development lifecycle.
