People Operations Manager

Location:
Charlotte, NC (minimum 4 days onsite)

Full-Time, Exempt

Charlotte Ballet is seeking a People Operations Manager to help shape and support the employee experience across our organization. This role partners with leadership to develop people-centered HR practices that reflect our mission and artistic culture. You'll manage core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, culture and performance development, and compliance, while collaborating with third-party partners for payroll, benefits, and HRIS administration. What You'll Do


• Partner with leadership on workforce planning, engagement, and culture-building


• Lead recruitment and onboarding to create a welcoming employee experience


• Serve as a confidential resource for employee relations and conflict resolution


• Support performance management, coaching, and professional development


• Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure accurate payroll and benefits processes


• Workers' Compensation Administration


• Maintain HR compliance, records, and policy updates

What We're Looking For


• 8+ years progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibility


• Experience in nonprofit or performing arts/creative environments preferred


• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust at all levels


• Commitment to equity, respect, and psychological safety in the workplace


• Familiarity with Paycor or similar HRIS is a plus
