The Special Teams Coordinator supports the Head Football Coach with the management of a competitive NCAA Division II Football Program. This includes a dual role of coaching and special teams job specific tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching:
- Trains and prepares student athletes.
- Develops and prepares student athletes for college competition, including but not limited to speed, strength and conditioning and play development.
- Identifies, evaluates and attracts talented athletes to compete on the college level athletically and academically, including assisting the recruiting coordinator with maintenance detailed and accurate recruiting documents, player files and records
- Ensures athletes are making satisfactory academic progress by including but not limited to:
- Working with the Faculty Academic Representative, the Academic Coordinator and Registrar to monitor athlete's grades
- establishing and coordinating study halls
- Providing mentors and tutors as needed
- Ensuring all student athletes are academically eligible per NCAA and conference requirements and entered correctly into the NCAA Compliance Program
- Maintaining regular office consultation hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Teams Coordinator:
- Responsible for special teams
- Will plan, organize and conduct all practices for each special teams unit including but not limited to:
- Daily on field coaching and management at all practice sessions and games.
- Organizes game preparation, including fill breakdown
- Developing game plans and scouting reports related to the special team units for each contest.
- Develops an annual special teams' playbook and teaching progression.
- Supervises and evaluates all special teams coaching including delegating to other assistant coaches, position specific coaching.
- Schedules and manages film sessions and meetings for all special teams' units.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Three years experience coaching experience at high school, collegiate or professional level.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
