À propos

High Point Village in Lubbock, Texas seeks a servant-leader with a passion for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities and leading a team of direct service professionals in a nonprofit organization committed to helping these individuals achieve their full God-given potential.

The Organization

High Point Village was founded in 2008 by a group of parents who shared a common dream: to create a brighter, more fulfilling future for their children with special needs. What began 17 years ago with just a few afternoon activities and classes has since grown into a thriving community, made possible by the unwavering love and support of our donors, families, and volunteers.

Today, High Point Village is a vibrant, inclusive space where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can thrive. We are dedicated to providing life-enriching opportunities that foster community engagement, leadership, and personal growth. While programs like these are common in many settings, our mission is uniquely focused on individuals who are too often overlooked, underestimated, or excluded by society.

In 2025, High Point Village served over 140 individuals and families through our Day Programs, Afternoon Enrichment Classes, Seasonal Parties, Respite Nights, and Social Services. Each Villager has been diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability. The most common diagnoses are Autism and Down syndrome.

The Position and Responsibilities

The Program Director at High Point Village is the primary leader for our two day programs, Reach High and Dream Big, that currently serve over 70 adults with IDD. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of Coordinators that facilitate the programs through genuine relationships, social skills and life skills lessons, spiritual enrichment, outings to serve and engage with the Lubbock community, fitness and art classes, and the introduction and development of vocational skills.
  • Cultivating and investing in genuine relationships with the parents and caregivers of all High Point Villagers. This requires open and regular communication and a commitment to responding quickly to emails, messages, and phone calls.
  • Curating and overseeing the use of effective and engaging curriculum by coordinators across all areas of the day programs.
  • Maintaining positive and productive relationships with local Direct Service Agencies, providing required documentation in a timely manner and ensuring that our Villagers who receive Medicaid Waiver benefits are cared for and served in a manner consistent with their goals and levels of need.
  • Making sure that all training and documentation for billing and licensure stays up-to-date, accurate, and submitted by established deadlines.
  • Managing the Programs budget with a commitment to our core value of stewardship.

Necessary Skills and Character Traits

  • Alignment with the core values of High Point Village: God-centered, Celebrating Abilities, Stewardship, Authentic Relationships, and Ownership.
  • Passion for serving the IDD Community and a commitment to never stop learning when it comes to providing quality programming across the vast spectrum of abilities and challenges presented by this population.
  • Team Leader. While High Point Village exists to serve individuals with IDD and their families, the Program Director's first priority is our program staff - making sure they are cared for, trained, resourced, encouraged, and held to the highest standards.
  • Team Player. As one of four directors, the Program Director must work collaboratively with the other directors, understanding the unique and significant roles that each leader and their departments play in the overall success of High Point Village. This includes working with the development team and grant writer in fundraising and with the volunteer coordinator to establish sustainable rhythms for utilizing volunteers in day programs.
  • Humble and Teachable. While experience serving the IDD community will be extremely valuable in this role, it is paramount that the Program Director maintain a posture of humility, remain open to feedback, and be eager to listen and learn from others who've spent years at High Point Village.
  • A college or graduate degree in human development, special education, or a related field is preferred.
