Job Summary:
As a Cook, your role will be to assist in the preparation, serving, and handling of meals, adhering to federal and state regulations as well as the dietary program as set out by the Prema at Ashton Hills LLC ("Prema") policies and procedures. You'll ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the dining service areas and assist with receiving, rotating, and storing products. You will report to the Food Service Director and Lead Cook

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in preparing food for large groups.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Eagerness to work with the elderly population and a friendly, caring nature.
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years with a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • A physical examination conducted by a licensed physician is mandatory, along with a negative drug screen.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of cooking and serving meals in line with nutritional guidelines, local health department regulations, and resident's individual diet and food preferences.
  • Ensure timely and pleasant delivery of food, in line with the Prema Dining Program.
  • Deliver high-quality meals, snacks, and special diets as directed by the community.
  • Present food in an appealing and attractive manner.
  • Aid in promoting residents' independence with eating by providing necessary adaptive equipment.
  • Ensure meals are delivered promptly and in a courteous manner.
  • Prepare and coordinate food service for special events when required.
  • Inform the Food Service Director or Lead Cook about any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances.
  • Clean dishes and adhere to the cleaning schedule
  • Adhere to local health department regulations and the Prema policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food in line with infection control standards.
  • Hold a valid CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Other primary responsibilities are required for this role as requested by the Executive Director and Food Service Director.
  • Knowledge in the following areas:

o State regulations regarding food handling and kitchen operations.
o OSHA Standards.
o Fire and Safety Procedures.
o Operation of Kitchen Appliances.
