As a Combat Systems Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of combat technologies. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting MarLabs analysis tasks by identifying and scoping the technical support needed to deliver impactful results.
• Collaborating with MarLabs Operational Analysts to ensure a comprehensive understanding of combat system performance and capabilities.
• Leveraging your personal experience to provide valuable insights into current and near-future capabilities in sense, decide, and effect.
• Contributing to MarLabs modelling and wargaming activities, offering your subject matter expertise where it counts.
• Providing insights into typical combat platform operations and the application of various capabilities.
• Conducting targeted research to support operational analysis and engage with academia and industry, addressing knowledge gaps and developing long-term technology roadmaps.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) with relevant professional experience in engineering, defence, or combat systems.
• Deeply knowledgeable in combat systems.
• Equipped with a robust engineering background that supports the analysis, development, and integration of complex defence systems.
• A critical thinker who can challenge established norms and apply innovative, inclusive problem-solving techniques.
• Experienced in engaging senior stakeholders and building trusted, mutually beneficial relationships.

MarLabs is the forward-thinking Operational Analysis team supporting BAE Systems’ Maritime and Land business. Our small team of analysts is dedicated to informing business strategy, campaigns, and future product development, all while understanding our customers' challenges and informing our business response.

As a Combat Systems Consultant, you will be a thought leader in maritime and land combat technologies, providing deep expertise in both above- and below-water systems. Reporting to the Lead Technologist, you will help shape future battlespace capabilities, support operational analysis, drive sector growth, and build strategic relationships across BAE Systems, academia, and industry.
