Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Review and update documentation, including care plans and medical histories
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
- Manage incoming correspondence, filing, and document review to ensure organized recordkeeping
- Assist with patient intake procedures and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support office management tasks including appointment reminders and follow-up calls
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless communication between front desk operations and clinical care
Skills
- Proficiency in dental office management software Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and data entry (10 key typing)
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and process claims efficiently
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and recordkeeping
- Strong customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred for diverse patient populations
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices
- Previous experience in a medical or dental office environment is required, including clinic experience or medical administrative support roles
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in all tasks
