Barista/Pastry Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our vibrant café team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and experience in food and beverage preparation. The Barista will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, preparing high-quality beverages, and ensuring customer satisfaction through exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks with precision and consistency
• Operate POS systems such for order processing and cash handling
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently using strong time management skills during busy hours
• Engage with customers in a friendly manner, providing excellent customer service and product recommendations
• Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in accordance with food handling regulations
• Assist with food preparation and serving of light food items as needed
• Keep the café environment tidy, organized, and welcoming for guests
• Support team members during peak hours to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience or background in the food industry is preferred
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS is a plus
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures
• Basic math skills for retail math, café sales, and cash handling accuracy
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods
• Experience in coffee or beverage preparation is desirable but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
