Job Summary

The
Grinding Operator
in the Grind Department is responsible for operating and monitoring grinding and mixing equipment during the production process. This role ensures all equipment operates within company standards, products are ground and mixed according to specifications, and all full and empty buggies/bins are properly placed. Any equipment, safety, or quality issues must be reported immediately to the Lead or Supervisor. At the end of each shift, the work area must be thoroughly cleaned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the position; other duties may be assigned:

  • Operate and maintain grinding and mixing equipment.

  • Maintain
    Lockout/Tagout certification
    and follow all Lockout/Tagout procedures.

  • Inspect and calibrate equipment prior to use and between breakdowns in coordination with QA and PCM.

  • Grease, reassemble, and perform routine maintenance on the grinder.

  • Coordinate with Leads to follow production schedules and produce correct Work-in-Process (WIP).

  • Follow product mix instructions according to approved
    SharePoint recipes
    .

  • Accurately calculate ingredient weights to ensure proper product formulation.

  • Verify that all ingredients meet co-date, temperature, and QA quality requirements.

  • Work with QA to obtain the correct water/phage mixture.

  • Safely use scissors or knives to open ingredients as needed.

  • Operate scales and ensure all finished buggies/bins are properly labeled and covered.

  • Move and store finished buggies/bins in designated areas or deliver to production lines.

  • Lift and shovel product (up to
    50 lbs.
    ) between bins and buggies as required.

  • Monitor for downgrades, contamination, or foreign material and report concerns immediately.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Maintain
    Pallet Jack certification
    .

  • Assist on the production line (e.g., styling, inspecting, or assisting the Lead) when not operating grinding or mixing equipment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Previous experience preferred, but not required.

  • No formal education required.

Language Skills
:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English or Spanish, such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete checklists.
