We're Hiring: Controller or Assistant Controller specializing in Commercial Real Estate

The Controller / Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for our commercial real estate portfolio. This role works closely with ownership, asset management, and property management teams to ensure accurate financials and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage property-level accounting including CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, and rent rolls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders
• Review budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff (for Controller role)
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing activities

Qualifications

• Prior commercial real estate accounting experience required
• Experience with SAGE - Timberline accounting software preferred but not required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–8+ years of accounting experience (depending on Controller vs. Assistant Controller level)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
