The Fleet Manager is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of our Home Health & Hospice vehicle fleet of 800+ units. This role ensures the safe, compliant, cost-effective, and efficient operation of all company vehicles and related programs. The Fleet Manager will develop and enforce fleet policies and procedures, oversee vehicle maintenance and safety, manage relationships with third-party vendors and insurance partners, and collaborate with internal departments to maintain compliance and adherence to budget goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Operations & Maintenance
- Lead all aspects of fleet operations, including vehicle acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, and replacement planning.
- Establish, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.
- Coordinate vehicle repairs and service with internal teams and external vendors, including our third-party fleet management partner.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date records for titles, registrations, inspections, maintenance history, warranties, and vehicle assignments.
- Policy, Safety & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and enforce fleet-related policies including driver use, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (local, state, federal).
- Oversee driver compliance programs, including licensing requirements, certifications, training, and safety performance monitoring.
- Coordinate accident investigation and reporting; work directly with insurance carriers and internal risk/HR teams to manage claims and resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal standards.
- Vendor & Insurance Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for the third-party fleet management vendor, negotiating service agreements and ensuring performance meets contractual standards.
- Work with insurance providers to manage claims, policy coverage, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop strong working relationships with maintenance vendors, parts suppliers, leasing partners, and other external stakeholders.
- Financial & Performance Management
- Monitor and control fleet operating costs, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, licensing, and insurance.
- Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, cost metrics, utilization trends, and compliance issues to leadership.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to develop and adhere to fleet budgets and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments — Nursing, Home Care Services, Human Resources, Safety/Risk, and Finance — to support operational goals and ensure company-wide alignment.
- Provide guidance and training on fleet safety practices and policies to staff and drivers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management or related operational leadership; experience with large fleets (500+ vehicles) strongly preferred.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with fleet management software and reporting tools.
- Comfortable with MS Office suite, especially Excel for analytics and reporting.
