Nature of the Work
The Small Engine Mechanic (Mechanic) is responsible diagnoses, repairs and maintaining farm equipment like tractors, mowers, harvesters working with mechanical, hydraulic and electronic systems to fix issue and perform routine servicing. This requires mechanical aptitude and willingness to demonstrate superior customer service.
Primary Purpose
· Ability to diagnose issues and identify problems in engines, pumps, burners and washers.
· Repair and maintaining agricultural equipment including adjustments or replacement of worn or broken parts, perform tune-ups, lubrication, and general servicing.
· Test repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and performs correctly.
· Customer Service is critical, both advising clients on repairs, maintenance and condition of machinery to support continued working order.
· Assembling new equipment, including pressure washers, and pumps on power packs.
Qualifications & Expertise Required
· Strong organizational skills, problem solving and time management as demonstrated with 5 or more years professional experience
· Strong verbal skills, and ability to keep clear and accurate written records required.
· Technical skills including knowledge of small gasoline/diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and precision farming technology.
· Problem solving abilities to analyze issues, information and isolate faults and repair.
· Physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy parts, work on equipment with possible awkward positions, handling greasy conditions required to fix equipment.
· Computer literacy is required, specifically ability to keep accurate records and ability to learn new programs quickly and efficiently.
· Experience demonstrated with confidential information and providing customer service to a variety of customers.
· Knowledge of agricultural business and/or local Delaware community would be considered a strong asset.
Accountabilities for the Role
· This is a fulltime position, working 45 hours per week from 8am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. During peak business periods, overtime may be required to complete necessary repairs based on the seasonal nature of the work.
· This position will work on-site at Delaware Pump & Parts Ltd. in Delaware, Ontario (remote work is not available for this role). Occassionally, road service work will be required.
· Other administrative duties as assigned may include supporting customers and/or event planning for staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 per week
