We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Youth Theatre Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate is passionate about drama, performance, and working with children and teens. This role focuses on using theatre-based techniques to build confidence, communication skills, creativity, and teamwork in young performers. The instructor will create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves and grow both on and off the stage. Prior experience in youth theatre, drama education, or working with children is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate youth theatre lessons
  • Teach foundational theatre skills including voice, movement, improvisation, character development, and storytelling
  • Lead group activities that promote confidence, collaboration, and self-expression
  • Prepare students for informal performances, showcases, or presentations when applicable
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all participants
  • Support students' social, emotional, and communication development through drama-based activities
  • Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning styles and comfort levels
  • Maintain attendance and basic progress notes for students
  • Communicate professionally with parents or guardians regarding student participation
  • Collaborate with the team on special events, workshops, or performances
  • Follow all safety guidelines and program policies at all times

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in youth theatre, drama instruction, acting, or performing arts
  • Comfortable working with children and teens of various age groups
  • Strong understanding of creative drama and theatre education principles
  • Ability to engage and motivate shy, energetic, or diverse learners
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Creativity in designing interactive theatre games, improvisation exercises, and role-play activities
  • Patience, adaptability, and a supportive teaching style
  • Basic organizational skills for lesson planning and record keeping
  • Additional Requirement
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required prior to starting the role.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: $25.00-$42.14 per hour

Work Location: In person
