Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – Enjoy a flexible work environment with 2 days onsite every fortnight and 1 day a week at Filton, depending on business needs.
Salary: Up to £57,500 (commensurate with skills and experience)
What You’ll Be DoingAs a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative electrical engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing design solutions that meet agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
- Managing requirements and acceptance criteria for systems or products across various platforms.
- Understanding contractual and performance requirements, supporting design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Producing essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams, technical specifications, and supporting calculations.
- Providing technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities.
- Assisting in the development of estimates for project scope and resources.
- Supporting Certificate of Design activities and presenting complex technical arguments clearly.
- Delivering technical input and engineering solutions for build activities, defect resolution, and change management.
We’re looking for candidates who possess:
- A BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with CEng status or the ability to meet CEng requirements.
- Demonstrable experience throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Knowledge in areas such as power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
- An in-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Power Generation and Distribution, and Protection and Co-ordination.
- Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
- Experience working within a relevant engineering role adhering to industry codes and standards.
