Principal Engineer Electrical Engineering (Power) (Millom)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid: 2 days a fortnight onsite; 1 day a week onsite at Filton, depending on business needs)

Salary: Up to £57,500 (commensurate with skills and experience)

Join us in a pivotal role where your expertise will shine! As a Principal Engineer, you will:

• Develop innovative design solutions that meet project milestones in terms of time, cost, and quality.
• Manage requirements and acceptance criteria for systems or products across various platforms.
• Understand and support contractual and performance requirements throughout the design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Create essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams, technical specifications, and justifications.
• Provide technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities, ensuring smooth transitions from suppliers to customer acceptance.
• Assist in estimating the scope of work and resources needed for bids and project planning.
• Support Certificate of Design activities and present complex technical arguments clearly and logically.
• Deliver engineering solutions to support build activities, defect resolution, and change management.

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation and passion for engineering. You should have:

• BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with CEng status or the ability to meet CEng requirements.
• Demonstrable experience throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Knowledge in areas such as power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
• In-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Power Generation and Distribution, and Protection and Co-ordination.
• Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
• Experience working within relevant engineering roles adhering to industry codes and standards.
