Under the direction of the Human Resources (HR) Manager, this position is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of human resources files for the organization. This position must provide a wide range of administrative support, including: possessing the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) and be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. This position must maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while keeping attention to detail. Provides administrative support to the Human Resources Section by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain Human Resources personnel, confidential and medical files.
- Assist in responding to Employee Development Department (EDD) Tribal First, Occupational Health, and other related agencies. Keeps HR Manager informed about all HR related correspondence.
- Respond to Employment Verifications following UIHS policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee records and business according to UIHS policy.
- Assist in creating forms, templates and other HR-related documents.
- Create and maintain database and spreadsheets as appropriate.
- Prepare minutes, correspondence, reports, proposals, and various paperwork as directed within set deadlines.
- Sort, stamp, route, and file various HR documents.
- Assist in all areas of Human Resources, supporting team.
- Maintain a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines and safety standards.
- Responsible for making identification badges for UIHS employees and Board of Directors.
- Perform backup coverage for administration receptionist with primary responsibility of answering the main telephone, taking accurate messages and routing to appropriate person or division.
- Provides excellent customer service and directs inquiries to appropriate persons
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as assigned by the HR Supervisor.
- Must be willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year.
- Must be willing to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility
- Must be willing to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guideline
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school
- High School Diploma or GED and two or more years' work experience in administrative capacity with demonstrated skills
- A general understanding of Human Resources and related functions is preferred
- Demonstrated use of database programs to include modification of structure and intermediate custom reporting, intermediate software packages such as word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
