Key Responsibilities
- Coverage review: Verify coverage by reviewing the first notice of loss and policy information; prepare disclaimers and reservation of rights letters as needed.
- Claims investigation: Conduct thorough investigations including liability and damages assessments, witness interviews, scene inspections, and evidence collection.
- Independent adjuster oversight: Retain, direct, and manage independent adjusters throughout the investigation lifecycle.
- Liability analysis: Apply statutory and case law to evaluate liability exposure and ensure joint tortfeasors contribute appropriately.
- Reserve management: Establish and maintain accurate reserves as liability and damages evolve.
- File management: Proactively manage claim files, negotiate settlements with claimants or attorneys, oversee defense counsel, and ensure effective litigation management.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Share updates and collaborate with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to support strong and profitable products.

Qualifications
- Experience:
- Associate Claims Examiner: 2+ years of relevant experience
- Claims Examiner: 7+ years of relevant experience
- Background in roles such as examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or similar
- Specialized experience: Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions, Cyber Liability, and/or other professional claims involving claims-made policies is a plus
- Additional strengths: Multi-jurisdictional experience, advanced degrees, and/or a JD are a plus
