Are you detail-oriented and organized? We're looking for a Shipping Clerk in Chicago, Illinois to manage our outgoing shipments. This role is vital for ensuring that orders are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched, playing a key role in our overall logistics network. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping labels, and maintaining shipping records. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Generate shipping labels and documentation for various carriers.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Verify shipment contents against order details before dispatch.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and logs.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipment status.
- Ensure the shipping area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Adhere to all company policies, including safety procedures and the proper use of PPE .
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related administrative or warehouse role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and order management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Understanding of shipping procedures and logistics operations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve some lifting (e.g., packages up to 30 lbs).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
