Join our team as a Receiving Clerk in Detroit, Michigan, and play a critical role in our warehouse operations. You will be the first point of contact for incoming goods, ensuring that all shipments are received accurately and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include unloading delivery trucks, inspecting goods for damage, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and properly documenting all received items. A strong focus on Safety and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for success in this position. You will operate equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks, and may assist with other material handling tasks. This role involves regular Lifting of packages and merchandise, so physical capability is important. The correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory to ensure a safe working environment. You will communicate with vendors, drivers, and internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the receiving process. Maintaining a clean and organized receiving area is also a key part of the job. Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments from delivery vehicles.
- Inspect goods for damage or shortages and verify against purchase orders or invoices.
- Accurately document all received items in the warehouse management system.
- Operate pallet jacks and hand trucks to move received goods to appropriate storage locations.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal staff regarding receiving issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles is preferred.
- Ability to perform moderate Lifting (up to 40 lbs).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Familiarity with basic warehouse safety procedures and the use of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Experience with pallet jacks and hand trucks.
