GAINSCO is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to define and govern our enterprise-wide data and analytics architecture strategy. In this highly visible role, you'll establish the long-term architectural vision and standards across ingestion, integration, storage, modeling, and analytics delivery—enabling trusted insights through platforms like Power BI and Tableau. You'll partner closely with business and engineering leaders to drive modernization, align architecture to business priorities, and deliver measurable outcomes through scalable, secure, and reusable data solutions.
What does an Enterprise Data Architect do?
- Create and own the long-term enterprise data architecture strategy, what "good" looks like now and where we're going next.
- Define standards and patterns for how data is ingested, integrated, stored, modeled, and delivered for analytics.
- Evaluate emerging tools and approaches and recommend what's worth adopting.
- Guide modernization efforts to ensure our platforms stay scalable, secure, and reusable.
- Architect and guide solutions using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Server, Snowflake, and related services.
- Establish "reference architectures" for both batch and real-time/streaming pipelines.
- Lead enterprise data modeling practices (conceptual, logical, physical) to drive performance, consistency, and reuse.
- Ensure platforms are designed for reliability, cost-efficiency, and future growth.
- Define enterprise expectations for data quality, metadata, lineage, security, and access controls.
- Partner with Security and Governance teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise and regulatory requirements.
- Set best practices for semantic models, metric definitions, and dataset design so reporting is consistent and trusted.
- Help govern Power BI and Tableau usage to reduce duplication and improve clarity across dashboards and reports.
- Partner with business leaders and analytics teams to translate business needs into clear, workable data and reporting solutions.
- Facilitate cross-team architecture decisions and help teams align on shared standards.
- Conduct architecture/design reviews and provide coaching and guidance to engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce technical debt, and streamline analytics delivery.
- Promote platform adoption and usability so teams can deliver insights faster with less rework.
