Job Title: Mentor Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Mentor Program Coordinator for Citizen Scholars is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's mentoring program, ensuring it aligns with our mission to support first-generation students who are college bound middle and high school students in Spartanburg County. This role includes assisting in recruiting, training, and supporting both mentors and mentees, maintaining accurate program records, coordinating events and activities, and evaluating program outcomes. The Coordinator acts as a liaison for Citizen Scholar staff, students and mentors to create a positive and impactful experience for all involved. The position is a part-time one with 25 hours a week. Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Management

· Implement program goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and grant requirements.

· Develop and maintain program structure, including policies, procedures, and evaluation protocols.

· Complete mentor program training and stay informed about best practices in youth mentoring.

Recruitment and Screening

· Assist in recruiting mentors and track information for each mentor and mentee.

· Assis in screening mentor candidates through interviews, background checks, and application review to ensure suitability.

· Maintain an organized system for tracking and storing mentor and mentee records.

Program Support and Communication

· Maintain consistent communication with current mentors and mentees to check in and answer questions.

· Answer questions about the mentoring program as they arise and provide solutions or suggestions as needed.

· Facilitate problem-solving and act as a liaison to the Executive Director for mentor/mentee issues.

· Solicit feedback from participants about their experience with the program.

Mentee Monitoring and Assessment

· Assess mentee progress in academics, attendance, and satisfaction with their mentor match.

· Provide guidance and support to ensure successful mentoring relationships.

Activities and Events

· Assit in planning regular group activities, field trips, and recognition events for matches and families.

· Assit in coordinating with school staff and community partners to integrate the program within the school and local community.

Data Collection and Reporting

· Collect and analyze program data to assess outcomes and effectiveness.

· Prepare reports for internal use, grant compliance, and potential publication.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

· Experience working with youth, preferably middle or high school students.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and databases.

· Sensitivity to the diverse needs of youth and families.

Additional Requirements:

· Ability to pass a criminal background check

· Ability to work some evenings and weekends

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $27,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Spartanburg, SC 29302
