Part Time Cook

Overview
We are looking for a cook to assist our child care staff members and Director in the daily preparation and clean up of lunch in a medium sized child care center. We prepare nutritious and delicious meals for approximately 30-55 children per day, following USDA serving guidelines and ODJFS meal and nutrition requirements. Hired candidates would also be required to assist the Director with inventory control, grocery lists, and grocery deliveries. Some light lifting is involved; must be able to stand for long periods of time and work independently with little supervision after training.

Candidates should have a basic knowledge of cooking and basic kitchen equipment usage. Most meals are fairly simple and do not require complex cooking skills; kitchen equipment operations include: microwave, gas stove, oven. Experience in a facility with a food service license is a plus but not required. Training will be provided including cleaning and sanitizing procedures, serving size requirements, and more.

Duties

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines
• Assist with menu planning to accommodate diverse dietary needs and preferences
• Ensure all food handling and safety protocols are strictly followed to maintain hygiene standards
• Support food preparation activities, including chopping, portioning, and plating dishes
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
• Must have good time management skills and be able to work independently

Requirements

• Previous experience in licensed food service establishment is highly preferred
• ServSafe certification is preferred, but not required
• Must be willing to learn and follow all rules and regulations of a licensed food service establishment
• Must be able to complete an FBI/BCI background check and provide an Employee Medical Statement as required by ODJFS
• Ability to work part-time hours with flexibility and enthusiasm for team collaboration

Pay: $ $13.00 per hour
