Lifesteps is hiring a full-time Day Program Instructor / Program Specialist for the Adult Training Facility in Eighty Four, PA.

Position Summary:

The Disability Instructor / Program Specialist is responsible for assisting adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities while attending the Day Program.  Acting as a paraeducator, the staff member creates an environment to empower the individuals through the development of skills and coordination of resources to learn independence.   The Program Specialist can assist with daily care, teach life skills, create engaging activities and program planning, and ensures the clients safety.

The Disability Services Program Specialist is also responsible for creating and implementing client care plans (i.e.  Individual Plans, Social Emotional environmental plans, Fade plans, etc.), then observing and reporting performance of clients in a variety of situations, and completing documentation on goal progress.

This full-time position works Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  No Evenings, No Weekends, No Holidays
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

  • Associate's degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 4 years' experience working directly with persons with disabilities (such as Direct Care, DSP, Paraprofessional, Day Program Aide, Job Coach, TSS, etc.)
  • OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • OR a Master's degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Must be able to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain clearances
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Preferred:

  • Master's degree and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Art or Dance Therapy Psychology, or any similar degree and 2 years of working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
