Project Engineer (Audio-Visual Systems)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Engineer to design and support audio, video, lighting, electronic, and acoustical systems that meet customer needs while remaining efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. This role supports projects from initial concept through installation, testing, and customer handoff, working closely with sales, project management, and installation teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Design integrated audio, video, lighting, electronic, and acoustical systems for a variety of environments.
• Develop system drawings, documentation, and technical details to support proposals and project execution.
• Review system designs and materials to ensure accuracy, performance, and profitability.
• Refine designs throughout the project lifecycle and produce as-built documentation when required.

Pre-Sales Support

• Support sales teams by providing technical input and system designs.
• Participate in site visits when requested.
• Assist with technical details for proposals and cost considerations.
• Review proposals prior to customer submission.

Project Execution

• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure systems are installed as designed.
• Support installation teams by resolving technical issues and clarifying design intent.
• Document any design changes or performance limitations caused by budget, structural, or acoustical constraints.
• Perform system tuning, testing, and performance verification.

Project Completion & Customer Support

• Conduct system testing and quality checks upon project completion.
• Provide system training to customers when included in project scope.
• Ensure systems meet quality expectations and customer requirements.
• Contribute feedback to improve system designs and installation methods.

Collaboration & Communication

• Communicate technical information in clear, simple terms to customers, sales teams, and technicians.
• Document important technical discussions with customers or vendors.
• Work collaboratively across departments with a solutions-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of integrated AV systems
• Experience with control systems programming
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and system-level thinking
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of professionalism and integrity

Preferred

• Experience with AV installation or field work
• Familiarity with control systems and digital signal processing
• Construction or systems integration background
• Leadership or supervisory experience

Work Environment & Expectations

• Primarily office-based with site visits as required
• Occasional travel, including overnight trips
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when project deadlines require
• Comfortable working at heights and in active construction environments
