We are seeking a Network Infrastructure Design Engineer with a proven history in developing and deploying large-scale network solutions in data centers or globally distributed Points of Presence (POPs). Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Meta's global network? In this role, you will facilitate the growth of Meta's Edge and Backbone network by defining requirements for space, power, cooling, and connectivity. You'll collaborate with diverse teams to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure in our global colocation facilities, including POPs, Cable Landing Stations, and Backbone midpoint sites. Responsibilities: Design, review, and optimize ICT (Information and Communications Technology) infrastructure for large-scale deployments including structured cabling and network hardware.
Develop and implement ICT design standards and compliance protocols in line with industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, BICSI).
Manage global requirements for space, power, cooling, and structured cabling to support Meta's edge/backbone network deployments.
Conduct facility sizing for utilities, switchgear, UPS/DC power plants, PDUs, and mechanical cooling systems.
Assess colocation providers and recommend improvements to meet Meta's design standards.
Work with internal and external engineers to manage the execution of infrastructure build-outs.
Lead project updates with colocation vendors, offering technical support and progress reports.
Track project timelines and risks to ensure timely completion.
Oversee site acceptance activities aligned with Meta's Edge network standards.
Coordinate multiple projects and execute tasks efficiently through vendor partnerships.
Create optimized layouts for edge/backbone midpoint sites, allocating space for various network functions.
Deliver Engineering Design Packages on time for sourcing and capacity planning.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to provide insight on space/power delivery for deployment projects.
Maintain accurate records and tooling for edge/backbone infrastructure build-outs.
Oversee the delivery of Owner Furnished/Contractor Installed equipment to colocation facilities.
Align with network planning teams on project roadmaps and material forecasting.
Implement lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
Travel 20% to 30% as needed based on project demands.
Minimum Qualifications: 7+ years in designing and constructing large-scale data center infrastructure, specifying space, power, cooling, and structured cabling.
Strong project management experience, including planning and delivering complex technical projects.
Ability to read and analyze electrical/mechanical single line diagrams.
Familiar with regional data center electrical and cooling solutions and standards.
Comprehensive knowledge of fiber optic components and structured cabling design.
Understanding of engineering principles related to infrastructure architecture, including airflow and cooling.
Experience in POPs, carrier hotels, and data center environments.
Proficient in managing communications with carriers and colocation vendors.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Effective collaboration skills for driving results with global teams.
Skilled in troubleshooting technical issues and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of internet networking technologies (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS) and optical transport concepts.
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other design tools.
Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in Revit and related design software.
Strong background in optical theory and operation of transport systems.
Experience in optical network design and installation for service providers.
Knowledge of ICT design for hyperscale data centers.
Certifications in data center design or structured cabling (e.g., BICSI RCDD).
PE licensure in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines.
Advanced degree in engineering.
Familiarity with Linux systems and scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl).
Compensation:
$135,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits Industry:
