Responsibilities
Maintain the current IT Network infrastructure WA NLA NWireless LA NVoIP / PSTN connectivity Perimeter security and remote access Load balancing Datacentre Contribute to the development of the existing network and suggest ways of improving existing technology, processes and documentation Travel to sites in the UK and Ireland to perform reactive and preventative maintenance as required or directed Work with other teams to ensure resolution of incidents / problems, always putting the customer first Work within project teams to help design, implement and operate IT projects Mentor and support junior members within the team Main Activities and Responsibilities
Design and implementation of network-based IT solution Provisioning and management of Yodel’s datacentre Installation and maintenance of branch office infrastructure Definition of project work, including documentation and reporting of project status Installation, upkeep and maintenance of network cabinets and cabling Configuration changes on networking equipment working within existing change processes Independent pro-active monitoring and management of the network to identify and resolve potential issues as they arise Independent resolution or escalation of all faults, liaising with third parties where necessary To answer and resolve any support requests escalated to third-line level Ensuring backups of all networking equipment Liaising with suppliers and partners in the definition of projects, costing and deliver Work under broad direction, capable of working without supervision. May, however, supervise the work of other staff Inform technical stakeholders or project teams of any changes to systems or processes Work across teams including Service Management, Technical Project Delivery and Solution Design ensuring excellent customer service and communication Liaise with third party suppliers for solution implementation and ongoing support Provide advice, support and technical expertise to own and other project teams and end users Research and understand new and emerging technologies and make suggestions as to how these can be used to meet business goals Liaise regularly with the Solution Design team to understand their work and the implementation pipeline Proactively transition work from other teams, including Solution Design, into the Network Team Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, including timely, professional communication Resolve any incidents and requests in line with agreed service-level limits Be patient, polite and approachable in all interactions with customers Qualifications

General Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office tools such as Visio and Excel Experience in integrating SaaS, PaaS and IaaS solutions into on-premise data centres Experience with document management and control with Microsoft SharePoint Awareness of Microsoft/Amazon/Google cloud technologies WAN Extensive demonstrable knowledge of routing protocols OSPF/BGP/EIGRP P/OMP. Experience of troubleshooting and operating a multi-VRF MPLS-based WAN Experience of troubleshooting and operating a Fortinet S-D-WAN Experience of troubleshooting and operating a public-facing hosting platforms and associated protocols, e.g. HTTP Experience of implementing SNAT, DNAT and Twice-NAT Experience of different WAN connectivity (Leased Line, xDSL, EFM, FTTC, Fibre, Wireless) Data Centre Extensive experience of data centre cabling types, standards and conventions including ability to implement and maintain, conforming to best practise and company standards Experience of operating and troubleshooting Cisco Application Centre Infrastructure (ACI) and Nexus 9000 series switches Experience of orchestration and automation tools, e.g. Ansible, Jenkins Knowledge of common scripting languages LAN Extensive experience of DHCP and DNS Experience of implementing, troubleshooting and operating Cisco Catalyst, Meraki and Nexus switches Demonstrable understanding of network practices, including design and topology Understanding of 802.1x, Windows-based PKI and x.509 certificates Understanding of LAN connectivity (Cat5/6, fibre types) Knowledge of APC UPS and ATS devices Wireless Experience of managing and troubleshooting Fortinet wireless access points Experience of configuring and troubleshooting policies within Cisco Identity Services Engine Demonstrable understanding of EM radio and communications (frequency bands, WiFi channels, antenna types) Demonstrable knowledge of EA VoIP / Telephony Experience of troubleshooting and operating Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection 12.5 Experience of configuring and operating PSTN breakout via SIP trunking Experience of operating Audiocodes Mediant SBC (or similar) devices Awareness of VMWare ESXi and vCenter Awareness of Cisco UCS C Series hardware platform Awareness of Microsoft Teams voice services Security and Remote Access Experience in implementation, configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls Extensive experience of IPsec site-to-site VPN Extensive experience of Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN Knowledge and experience of security best practices, attack vectors and countermeasures Load Balancing Experience of configuring and troubleshooting F5 Big-IP LTM Load Balancers Experience of load balancing setups, algorithms and session persistence Monitoring Knowledge of Nagios Core Cisco CCNA or CCNP Security and CCNA/CCNP Collaboration as desirable Additional information
