Education Program Coordinator

Tower Grove Park is known for its unique, historic Victorian architecture, its extensive network of trails, and its signature community events and activities such as the Farmers' Market and the Festival of Nations. However, one of the main attractions for our 2.5 million annual visitors is the 289 acres of green open spaces and woodlands that serve as a natural oasis in the middle of a densely populated, diverse urban area. The living landscape of Tower Grove Park includes 6,800 trees, hundreds of varieties of woody shrubs, stunning horticulture, and many acres of grassy turf in which Park visitors can relax, socialize, exercise, study, and enjoy nature.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

· Develop and implement exciting and impactful nature-based educational programs from youth to adult, including school and camp field trips, education festivals like Fall Frolic, and special events like Stargazing at TGP.

· Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, venue booking, and supply purchasing.

· Work with Community Engagement Manager and Director of Community Programs to develop program materials and content, including interactive lesson plans, engaging handouts, and informative and fun presentations

· Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for program improvements

· Maintain accurate records of program participation and outcomes

· Serve as Park Ambassador by tabling outreach events to promote programs to the community

· Supervises Volunteer Educators, including onboarding, training and support during programs

· Coordinate/collaborate with Missouri Department of Conservation staff for program scheduling and facilitation.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Tower Grove Park is seeking an individual with an Associate's degree in Education or equivalent experience. Successful candidates will be familiar with Microsoft Office and have exceptional time management and planning skills. Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design is required. Outdoor education experience and knowledge of biology/ecology is desired.

The ideal candidate for this position is at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license. Based on the schedule of education programs, some nights and weekends will be required.

This position is FT seasonal at 32-hours per week, offering $19.50 per hour. There is an opportunity to work from home one day a week with the successful completion of training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants are required to pass pre-employment drug (excluding THC) and background checks. Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Driver's License required to operate golf cart and park vehicles

· Ability to work both outdoors and indoors for extended periods of time

· Ability to walk, stand, crouch or bend for extended periods of time during programs

· Ability to lift 30+ pounds for setting up program supplies

· Ability to setup and tear down tents, tables, chairs, etc.
