About the Role The Regional Flexibility Engineering (RFE) team is at the forefront of Amazon's global infrastructure expansion. We are dedicated to building and utilizing essential infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets that enable the seamless integration of Amazon's services across multiple regions. We harness innovative AWS technologies to create robust architectures and engineering best practices, driving our mission forward. As a Data Scientist with the RFE team, you will play a crucial role in helping Amazon businesses tap into new AWS regions while enhancing operational efficiency and scalability. Your work will impact various Amazon entities, including Stores, Digital, and others, while collaborating closely with AWS teams to align on regional needs. This is your chance to work with groundbreaking tech to build scalable solutions that overcome regional challenges. Your Responsibilities Partner effectively with product and technical leaders to shape data-driven automation capabilities that enhance regional flexibility offerings. Identify both enablers and blockers in the adoption of regional flexibility and develop predictive models to understand the implications of regional changes. Drive impactful experiments and technical solutions designed to improve customer experiences and operational efficiencies. Ensure our architecture supports localized service delivery while mitigating risks associated with region-specific failures. About the Team The RFE organization supports the rapid evolution of Amazon's services, reaching millions of customers around the world daily. We are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technologies and delivering simple, user-friendly solutions backed by engineering excellence. Our work emphasizes creating a resilient and responsive infrastructure that continuously adapts to our customers' needs. Basic Qualifications A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist.
At least 3 years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab).
Proven expertise in machine learning and statistical modeling tools and techniques with practical implementation experience.
A track record of applying theoretical data models in real-world scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.
Experience in a data science or ML role within a large technology organization.
