This position reports to the Information Technology Supervisor II, Service Desk Office Supervisor. Under the direction of this supervisor, the Service Desk Associate (Information Technology Associate) is responsible for assisting CDFA staff with technical incidents and service requests related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals. The incumbent ensures the smooth operation of information technology systems by delivering user support and performing repair and maintenance of IT equipment and software applications.
The role requires the ability to work independently under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions and recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate initiative, creativity, and tact while collaborating with ITSD management and staff, providing technical advice and briefings, and staying current with industry practices, technological trends, and emerging technologies through research and professional development activities.
The position exists in downtown Sacramento at CDFA's Headquarters located at 1220 N Street, Sacramento, California. Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent's ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFA's Telework Policy.

Working Conditions
This position is primarily performed indoors in an office environment. The incumbent will be assigned a workstation equipped with modular furniture, an adjustable chair, a computer with various software applications, a telephone with voicemail, and filing drawers and bins. This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer using a keyboard and mouse.
The incumbent must be able to deliver presentations, participate in meetings, and interact effectively with staff. Duties also require the ability to operate office equipment such as keyboards, calculators, photocopiers, fax machines, and telephones; handle papers, small objects, and manuals; access files in upper and lower cabinets; and occasionally exert up to 15 pounds of force, or a negligible amount of force frequently, to move or position objects.
Travel to CDFA facilities and sites throughout the state may be required, using various modes of transportation. Overnight stays, weekend work, and off-shift hours may occur as needed.
Regular or recurring telework may be part of the incumbent's schedule in accordance with CDFA's Telework Policy.

Department Information The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is responsible for the oversight and management of all information technology and telecommunications activities including, but not limited to, information technology, information security, and telecommunications personnel, contractors, systems, assets, projects, purchases, and contracts. ITSD is tasked with ensuring compliance with state information technology policy and conformance to state information technology and telecommunications policy and enterprise architecture. The range of services that ITSD provides encompasses the areas of Technology Governance, Applications Development Services, Customer Support and Services, IT Infrastructure Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement, and Information Security. ITSD provides IT services to over 2,000 employees in eight major program areas as well as executive and administrative staff distributed over 100 locations throughout the state.

SOQ Questions (Service Desk Associate)
1. Technical Troubleshooting and Support
Describe your experience providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals. Include specific examples of how you diagnosed and resolved hardware or software issues, provided remote or on-site assistance, and ensured timely resolution of incidents.
2. Service Request Fulfillment and Asset Deployment Explain your experience fulfilling IT service requests, including deploying hardware and software assets, configuring systems, and assisting with account or access management. How did you ensure compliance with organizational standards and maintain customer satisfaction?
3. Service Desk Operations and Process Improvement
Discuss your experience with service desk operations, such as logging and tracking incidents in a ticketing system, escalating issues, and creating knowledge base articles. Provide examples of how you contributed to improving workflows, documentation, or overall service efficiency.

- Diagnosing and resolving issues with printers and computing peripherals (monitors, keyboards, mice, docking stations, external drives, audio/video devices).
- Supporting and configuring smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices across multiple platforms.
- Microsoft 365 administration, including configuration, deployment, imaging, and end-user support.
- Microsoft Windows OS setup, configuration, user profiles, and integration with Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Mobile Device Management tools (e.g., Intune) and remote assistance tools (e.g., Quick Assist).
- Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP) for end-user support.
