Role As a
Backend Engineer , you’ll build the secure, scalable systems that power Kneus products. You’ll work on services and infrastructure that clinicians rely on for decision-making, enable patients to access impactful tools day to day, and support data science workflows that unlock new insights for research and care.
What Youll Be Doing
Build and maintain backend services that are secure, reliable, and scalable
Design and develop REST APIs for mobile and/or web applications
Contribute to distributed systems and microservice architectures
Support database design (SQL) and backend architecture decisions
Improve release processes and deployment workflows
Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
Requirements
2+ years backend engineering commercial experience
1+ year commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems
Solid understanding of SQL databases, backend architecture, and release processes
Interest in growing DevOps capability (e.g., Terraform, CI/CD, AWS deployments)
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

Nice to Have (Bonus)
Experience with Python (scripting, automation, data workflows, lightweight services)
Interest in expanding into adjacent areas over time (e.g., collaborating with mobile engineers, potential exposure to Android/iOS)

Benefits Salary:
£60,000 per year
Annual leave:
25 days paid annual leave + public holidays, with the option to buy and sell holidays
