Position Summary:
Under the training of the Registered Dietitian the Kitchen Coordinator is responsible in ensuring that the center serves all participant meals in a safe, sanitary and appetizing manner. The kitchen coordinator is also responsible for preparing, serving and cleaning up after all meals and snacks are served. Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for keeping emergency food and water inventory and maintaining the area clean, safe and functional. Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all CACFP kitchen requirements are met.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Responsible for the supervision of food services, sanitation, ordering, and record keeping.
- Direct staff with food service, cleaning, sanitizing, stock rotation, emergency food supply and other assigned tasks. Under the direction of the RD purchases supplies, alternate menus, etc., necessary to prepare meals for center as outlined on approved center menu. Assists dietitian with menu planning, communicating participant likes and dislikes.
- Ensure kitchen is in compliance with state and federal regulations. Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness in the food preparation area.
- 4.Notify Registered Dietitian of necessary food and supplies both daily and emergency.
- 5.Complete documentation related to the CACFP reports as needed to include but not limited to:
- Document Menu Changes
- Record Number of Meals and snacks offered and served daily
- Ensure food transport log is complete, including temperature upon arrival at kitchen
- Complete monthly, weekly, and daily cleaning schedule tasks
- Ensure maintenance of documentation records for weekly thermometer calibration, and daily refrigerator temperature, dishwasher temperature, ice maker professional cleaning on respective logs, records food temperatures daily, etc.
- Perform all necessary tasks in an efficient and safe manner. Assists other center staff in serving meals and snacks.
- Under Nurse/RD supervision responsible for ensuring all special diets ordered are served to the appropriate participant.
- Clean and organize work area and disinfect kitchen and equipment after use.
- May participate in patient care tasks, such as assisting with passing food trays and feeding participants.
- Attends center staff meetings and in-service educational training programs.
- Responsible for ensuring that all open containers have been labeled and dated.
- Assists with participants badges to ensure they receive appropriate diets.
- Updates participants' diet list provided by RD on a regular basis and ensures all CNAs are informed of any changes
- Carry out assigned task as deemed necessary.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, infection control standards including following infection disease precautions to prevent the spread of organisms.
Job Requirements
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum Qualifications:
- Food service experience preferred
- Requires working knowledge of food service sanitation, food safety and cleaning methods, with a willingness to perform them daily.
- Requires the ability to prepare accurate written reports
- The ability to comprehend both written and spoken English.
- An interest and desire to work with the target population served by the center.
