Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Store Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, drive sales growth, support customer needs, and ensure operational excellence. The ideal candidate has a strong background in protective coatings, specialty building materials, industrial products, construction supply, or a related technical field. This role requires strong leadership skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to support business development initiatives while maintaining store standards, inventory accuracy, and employee development.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations & Customer Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, installers, and industry professionals.
  • Support inside sales efforts, including calling leads, outbound prospecting, and assisting walk-in customers.
  • Provide knowledgeable guidance on product selection, application methods, and system recommendations (training provided).
  • Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing duties, cash handling, and POS transactions.
  • Ensure the store operates efficiently with a focus on:
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Store appearance and organization
  • Employee training and performance
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional store environment inside and out.
  • Manage stocking activities and inventory control processes to meet customer demand.

Sales & Business Development

  • Enter and track customer leads, opportunities, and activities within the company CRM (required).
  • Identify prospective customers within the region and communicate the company's value proposition.
  • Conduct outreach to new and existing customers to grow store revenue.
  • Perform site visits to customers when applicable to support product recommendations or project needs.
  • Support the growth of current business through engagement, follow-up, and basic technical assistance.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on local outreach initiatives and promotional strategies.
  • Gather and report competitor intel, pricing changes, and market activity when available.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, train, and mentor store staff to achieve sales, customer service, and operational goals.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate with training personnel to organize product knowledge sessions or customer-facing events.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, store management, business development, construction supply, or a related technical/industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and grow a sales territory or branch location.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable learning and explaining technical products (training provided).
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and general computer software.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for corporate meetings or training.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with contractors or installers in construction, industrial supply, or specialty materials.
  • Prior experience managing a retail or distribution location.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
