SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Manager supports Manufacturing's performance through resource management including labor, material, work centers, capacity projections and equipment utilization. He or she is responsible for facilitating project management with core customers, progressive implementation of process improvements, lean management, and innovations in systems and operational methods for the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervisory responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Works with department managers, supervisors, and outside vendors to develop quotations on internal and external processes.
  • Analyze and communicate on master production plans / schedule based on customer requirements and capacity plans
  • Monitors contracts and the execution of them
  • Implements annual MSA agreements with top accounts
  • Manage sourcing and purchasing activities to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  • Lead the S&OP process to align demand forecasting, inventory management, and production planning.
  • Work directly with management on capacity concerns and future investments to support capacity
  • Analyze and establish the most efficient way to use employees and equipment to meet production requirements with the help of production managers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Acts as a liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Finance; work directly with customers as required
  • Apply strategic planning, lead projects, launch programs, report capacity projections, and manage within the manufacturing department to assure on time delivery of materials
  • Effectively uphold safety standards, manufacturing expectations, quality standards, and the production schedule with every decision.
  • Effectively lead to meet production expectations and customer expectations
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, usage variance, and slow-moving stock using data analytics tools.
  • Ensure employee discussions, documentation, and performance evaluations are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. Partners with Talent Management Retention (TMR) representative(s) when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • College education or other technical school training in a related field (degree preferred in project management, supply chain management, business management, or related)
  • 5-10 years of prior experience in lean manufacturing, demand management, inventory control, purchasing, and contract negotiation.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to organize, motivate, and direct others.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations including the use of Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software.
  • Be capable of utilizing spreadsheet and ERP type software in managing the planning process.
  • Ability to communicate and understand ideas through verbal and written means of communication.
  • Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively, and to be responsible for making decisions.
  • Must be organized and able to recognize priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routinely required to stand and walk; use hands to handle and feel; reach with arms and hands; as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision requirements include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Routinely work in a noisy (company-provided hearing protection is required) and non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Able to work in an environment where lock-out/tag-out is a standard safety practice.
  • Routinely work in environment with gas-powered and other forklifts and machinery.
