DESY, with more than 2900 employees at its two locations in Hamburg and Zeuthen, is one of the world's leading research centres. Its research focuses on decoding the structure and function of matter, from the smallest particles of the universe to the building blocks of life. In this way, DESY contributes to solving the major questions and urgent challenges facing science, society and industry. With its ultramodern research infrastructure, its interdisciplinary research platforms and its international networks, DESY offers a highly attractive working environment in the fields of science, technology and administration as well as for the education of highly qualified young scientists.

The offered position is part of the Helmholtz ROCK‑IT project, which focuses on pioneering automated measurements in catalysis using synchrotron radiation techniques. ROCK‑IT represents a joint venture among Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), and Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT). This position is a key component in enhancing operational Cyber Security in the federated cloud infrastructure within the Helmholtz Association which covers 18 research centres in Germany. You will contribute to establish optimal IT security for numerous distributed components of the Helmholtz-wide research landscape, thus enabling scientists to fester their research in a secure, reliable and sovereign way. This role highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in the realm of Cyber Security through the Helmholtz-wide IT platform HIFIS. This role is positioned within the DESY IT department and maintains a strong connection to the Photon Science department, supporting beamlines at the X‑ray laser FLASH and the synchrotron radiation source PETRA III.
