Premier Industries is a family-owned manufacturing company specializing in custom machinery, automation equipment, tooling, fixtures, gages, and component fabrication. We design, build, and test machines using our in-house engineers, welding department, machine shop, and assembly area. The controls engineer is expected to assist with quoting the electrical portion of machine builds, selecting and specifying components, designing electrical control systems, programming PLCs, and assisting with implementation / wiring. There is a lot of freedom and independence in the position as well as a lot of work variety and opportunities for personal development and growth. The controls engineer works closely with the mechanical engineering department and shop supervision to ensure the final machine works as designed. Most work is done onsite at Premier Industries but some travel may be needed infrequently (less than 10% of the time).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

· Have 5+ years of electrical and controls experience

· Be confident and capable specifying and working with different electrical components found in a machine panel (relays, VFD's, PLC, power supplies, etc.)

· Be able to read, interpret, and generate detailed electrical schematics

· Have PLC programming experience

· Be able to work independently and as part of a team
