Position Summary: The Converting Operator is responsible for operating slitting equipment to process large material rolls into smaller, part-specific rolls in support of production needs. This role ensures materials are converted accurately, safely, and efficiently according to production schedules. The operator will utilize the company's ERP system to review material demand, record completed rolls and maintain accurate inventory records. Strong attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective use of production systems are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Operate converting and slitting equipment to process large material rolls into smaller, part-specific rolls per production requirements
- Review production schedules and material demand
- Accurately record material transactions, conversions, and inventory movements in the ERP system
- Ensure finished rolls meet quality specifications, including width, length, and appearance
- Perform machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers as required
- Inspect materials for defects and report quality issues to supervision or quality personnel
- Maintain accurate counts and proper labeling of converted materials
- Safely load, unload, and handle material rolls using approved equipment and methods
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout guidelines
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance tasks
- Communicate material shortages, equipment issues, and production concerns to leadership
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, quality, and safety
- May perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Experience operating industrial machinery, converting equipment, or slitting machines is a plus
- Basic computer skills required, including the ability to learn and use an ERP system
- Experience with material handling, inventory transactions, or production reporting preferred
- Ability to read work instructions, production schedules, and basic measurements
- Willingness to be trained and learn new equipment and processes
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail preferred

Production floor.
Work Hours
Position is full-time. Occasional overtime may be required.
