Position Overview

A well-established power systems company specializing in residential and commercial backup generator solutions is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive continued growth. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, including operations, sales, service, financial performance, and team leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational discipline, customer-focused decision-making, and experience managing field service–based businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee daily operations across installation, service, maintenance, and emergency response teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to high quality and safety standards
  • Optimize scheduling, inventory, fleet usage, and vendor relationships
  • Maintain compliance with local codes, permits, and industry regulations

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop managers, technicians, and administrative staff
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability across departments
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top operational and technical talent
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer service excellence

Sales & Business Development

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to drive revenue growth and margin improvement
  • Oversee pricing strategy, quoting accuracy, and contract execution
  • Build relationships with builders, property managers, and commercial clients
  • Identify new market opportunities and service offerings

Financial Management

  • Own full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Monitor KPIs related to revenue, margins, service efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Improve operational efficiency to support scalable growth
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and internal controls

Customer Experience

  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Resolve escalated customer issues with professionalism and urgency
  • Ensure service standards meet or exceed company expectations

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in operations or general management
  • Experience in generators, electrical contracting, HVAC, construction services, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Proven success managing field service or installation-based businesses
  • Strong financial acumen with P&L ownership experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational execution

Preferred Experience

  • Backup generator sales, installation, or maintenance operations
  • Managing multi-department teams (sales, service, operations, admin)
  • Operating in storm-prone or emergency-response environments
  • Experience with growth, process improvement, or operational turnaround initiatives
