We are looking for an experienced Electronics Design and/or Firmware Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will be qualified in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering with at least 3 years experience and will have a true appreciation for what it takes to make a complete product. We operate in a fast paced environment where we try to push the boundaries of product development. Our Product Development group is a small team of world class engineers and developers that is all about creating great products that make a difference for our customers.
The role is full time, and on-site. This role will require past experience with design software such as Fusion 360, EAGLE or Altium. You will have great organizational and communication skills and be used to interacting with the team onsite and those that work remotely in other locations. You will be comfortable getting your hands dirty building prototypes, solving production line issues and sometimes helping diagnose issues in the field. You will be comfortable with 3D printing, soldering, programming, PCB assembly and using test equipment.
You'll design and iterate PCB assemblies from concept through production release, including schematic capture, layout, bring-up, and validation. Lead and participate in cross-functional design reviews. Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing teams on interfaces, cable assemblies, and integration details. Develop and maintain embedded firmware primarily in C/C++ across AVR and STM-based platforms. Implement and debug peripherals and interfaces, including USB, switch/IO handling, analog sampling, and digital communications.
Responsibilities Include:
- Contribute to the development of flight simulation components and systems
- Develop electronic designs including circuit boards and cable assemblies
- Write and maintain embedded software/firmware
- Source components and suppliers
- Research and develop new manufacturing techniques
- Order, build and evaluate prototypes
- Release new designs to production
- Troubleshoot production problems
- Update and maintain existing designs
- Improve efficiency, reduce costs
- Development documentation and support materials
This role is ideally suited to someone with a passion for aviation, either as a pilot or flight sim enthusiast.
