Position Summary

The District Technology Director is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of the school district's entire technology infrastructure. This role oversees network operations, data security, administrative systems (such as PowerSchool), and classroom technology to ensure a seamless educational environment. Additionally, the Director acts as a leader within the department, responsible for training staff and delegating appropriate tasks to the District Technology Assistant.

Reports To: Superintendent of Schools

Key Responsibilities

Network & Server Infrastructure

  • Network Management: Serve as the Local Area Network Manager, overseeing switches, firewalls, content filtering, and bandwidth optimization.
  • Wireless Systems: Manage the district's wireless network to ensure reliable connectivity for all users.
  • Server Administration: Direct server management, including system updates, troubleshooting, and strategic planning/purchasing.
  • Systems Configuration: Maintain DHCP, DNS, and the K-12 Windows Active Directory.
  • Disaster Recovery: Oversee backup storage and disaster recovery protocols to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

Data Management & Student Information Systems (SIS)

  • PowerSchool Administration: Lead the management of the PowerSchool SIS, including scheduling setup, enrollment for staff and Pre-K students, and generating required reports.
  • Data Stewardship: Act as the District Staff and Student Data Steward, ensuring the accuracy, privacy, and security of all district data.
  • Assessment Data: Manage EduClimber and other assessment data downloads, uploads, and syncing of systems.
  • Communication Tools: Manage Thrillshare Alerts and "Rooms" classroom data integration.

Cyber Security & Safety Systems

  • Security Operations: Oversee physical security technology, including ID badges, security door settings, and camera surveillance systems.
  • Cyber Security Strategy: Implement cyber security software and multi-layered protection, including email security, penetration testing, and cyber hygiene scans.
  • Monitoring & Compliance: Facilitate KnowBe4 staff training and manage Securly monitoring and reporting.

Hardware, Software & Operations

  • Strategic Planning: Lead district hardware and software planning, purchasing, and the writing of the Annual Technology Plan.
  • Financial Management: Manage eRate Category 2 Funds to support infrastructure upgrades and grant requirements.
  • Systems Integration: Oversee district printing (Papercut), Bell and Intercom systems, and Phone systems.
  • AV Management: Manage Audio/Video in the cafeteria and serve as the second point of contact for PAC A/V systems.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain a comprehensive and accurate inventory of all district hardware and software.

Support & Professional Development

  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot K-12 classroom devices, including Boxlight interactive displays, document cameras, and printers.
  • Staff Training: Lead professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance staff technology proficiency.
  • Leadership & Delegation: Train, guide, and delegate appropriate operational tasks to the District Technology Assistant.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience: Experience with network management and educational technology systems.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in the categories listed as key responsibilities.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with staff.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Terms and Conditions of Employment

  • Length of Contract: 12 Months
  • Hours: The Employee agrees to work sufficient hours and days to satisfactorily complete the duties of this contract. Report time varies based on duties of the day. Partial remote work options may be negotiated.
  • Leave Benefits:
  • Follows the regular 185-day school calendar plus 35 additional contract days either preceding or following the school year.
  • 10 Personal Health & Wellness Days (roll-over to accumulated sick leave)

  • Family Medical Insurance - 100% of the premium paid by the district.
  • School Retirement - Defined benefit plan.
  • Wages:
  • Wages are contingent upon the education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate ranging from $60,000-$95,000.

The selected candidate will onboard as soon as April 2026 but no later than June 1st, 2026.

Pay: $60, $95,000.00 per year
