General Summary (What is done and why)

The Graphic Designer creates visual concepts that communicate ideas, inspire audiences, and reinforce brand identity. They will work across digital and print media to produce engaging designs for websites, advertisements, social media, packaging, and more. This role incorporates a UX focus, ensuring that digital designs—such as graphic support for intranet, web pages, landing pages, and online banking—are visually appealing, intuitive, and user-friendly. 

The Graphic Designer understands the United branch and verbal identity, value proposition, differentiators as a preferred credit union and flawlessly designs with a local, authentic feel within the markets. This position works closely and collaborates with PR, digital marketing, product marketing and multiple internal stakeholders and external vendors to launch integrated campaigns on-time.

Essential Functions, in Priority Order

(Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)

Collaborate with marketing and creative agency of record to develop and/or support design concepts

Create visual assets such as logos, illustrations, infographics, and layouts

Design promotional materials including brochures, banners, and social media graphics

Ensure brand consistency across all visual outputs

Revise designs based on feedback and project requirements

Prepare final deliverables for print or digital publication

Stay updated on design trends and software tools

Assume ownership of the digital asset management software

Apply basic UX principles to digital projects, focusing on layout, navigation, and accessibility for an improved member experience

Education and experience

(Minimum education and experience required to perform the duties of this position)

· Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field

· –2 years of experience in graphic design  

· A strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work 

· Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)

· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) 

· Project management experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

(Minimum technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)

· Principles of graphic design, typography, color theory, and layout.

· Branding standards and corporate identity guidelines.

· Digital marketing concepts and financial industry compliance basics.

· Knowledge of credit union products, services, and member demographics (preferred).

· Understanding of accessibility standards for digital and print media.

· Familiarity with print production processes and digital asset management.

· Basic video editing and motion graphics (Adobe Premiere, After Effects) is a plus.

· Experience with web design principles and responsive design (HTML/CSS knowledge helpful).

· Ability to create graphics optimized for social media, email campaigns, and websites.

· Competence in preparing files for print and digital distribution.

· Understanding of image optimization for web and mobile platforms.

 Physical Demands (Physical effort generally associated with this position)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from prolonged work at the computer.  Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels.

 Working Conditions (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

Internal -- work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate deadlines or special meetings.

 External -- Some travel is required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
