Field Operations Intern

Job Description

Grand Farm is seeking a motivated Field Operations Intern to join our team for the 2026 growing season. As a Field Operations Intern, you will play a crucial role assisting in the setup, maintenance, and data collection of agricultural demonstration plots, field trial plots, and the Grand Farm Innovation Campus. This internship involves a combination of hands-on fieldwork, machinery operation, and data collection to support innovative agricultural research.

As an intern at Grand Farm, you will be an integral part of our dynamic and fast-paced environment. Throughout the internship, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our multidisciplinary teams, gaining exposure to a wide array of agricultural innovations from around the world. Grand Farm's ecosystem includes growers, startups, corporations, higher education, government agencies, and investors.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Work with the field team and independently on the following:

• Help set up and maintain trials and Innovation Campus grounds
• Operate field equipment to mow, plant, spray, and cultivate field trials
• Collect, record, and organize scientific agricultural field data
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all tasks
• Other Duties as Assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Experience operating farm machinery or willingness to learn how to operate standard farm equipment
• Strong attention to detail and precision in executing tasks and collecting scientific agronomic data
• Self-driven and accountable under low supervision
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and researchers
• Ability to follow instructions and document work accurately
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and related software

Experience & Education Requirements:

• Pursuing either an Associate`s or a Bachelor's degree in agricultural science, horticulture, plant sciences or related field
• Valid driver's license

Physical demands:

• Ability to continuously stand or walk during events
• Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift occasionally
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• These physical requirements must be met with or without accommodation

Work environment:

• May occasionally work outdoors with temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
• May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
• May occasionally climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces
• Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud
• Ability to work outside normal business hours on occasion
• Ability to travel to stakeholder locations located in rural communities

Availability:

• Available to work hours per week
• Must be available to work some evenings and/or weekends depending on event schedules
• Must be able to work onsite at the Grand Farm innovation campus in Casselton, North Dakota
• Internship would last between approximately middle of May through middle of August with potential for extension through harvest
• Willingness to work flexible hours during peak seasons, often long hours during planting and harvest
