Position Overview: The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for administering payroll within the ADP Workforce Now platform to ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time. The Payroll Specialist will also participate in continual process improvements with the Human Resources and Accounting/Finance teams to provide value-added services in a rapidly growing company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Payroll Processing: Collect and verify timekeeping data, calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and garnishments accurately. Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP Workforce Now, ensuring timely and error-free payments. Assist with year-end processes.
- Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax regulations and labor standards. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and respond to agency inquiries as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR on new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits enrollment. Coordinate with Accounting team for payroll funding and reconciliation.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current on payroll legislation and ADP system updates. Recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate employee payroll records in ADP and other systems. Generate reports for Finance, HR, and management, including labor cost analysis and audit support. Assist with year-end processes such as W-2 and 1099 preparation.
- Employee Support: Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, direct deposit and timekeeping. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or errors.
- Timekeeping training: Assist supervisors to resolve issues and train employees how to use the app/desktop to record time, request time off, and approve their timecards in ADP.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a rapidly growing company.
- Proficiency in any payroll/HRIS platform, preferably ADP Workforce Now.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Teamwork mindset, and a helpful approach to problem solving
Preferred:
- Payroll certifications (CPP or FPC).
- Coursework in Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field
- Experience with accounting integration and reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Experience with benefit administration.
