Schedule: Monday–Friday; occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support as needed
Salary Range: $84,000 – $120,000 annually
Compensation is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and business needs.
Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing, optimizing, and continuously improving day-to-day operational processes to ensure the organization operates efficiently, safely, and profitably. This role provides leadership across operations, supervises staff, manages resources and budgets, ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies, and partners cross-functionally to support organizational goals and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Workflow Management
- Design, implement, and continuously improve operational processes, procedures, and policies to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput
- Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies; recommend and execute corrective actions
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs); drive data-informed improvements
Resource Planning & Management
- Oversee the allocation of personnel, equipment, and supplies to meet operational objectives
- Manage inventory, vendor relationships, and supply chain activities as applicable
- Ensure facilities, equipment, and tools are maintained, safe, and fit for purpose
Staff Management & Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate operations staff
- Assign work, set priorities, and delegate responsibilities effectively
- Foster a safe, productive, and inclusive work environment
- Address performance concerns and support employee development
- Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and coaching
- Maintain personal professional development through training, certifications, and continued education
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage operational budgets; monitor variances and control costs
- Participate in forecasting and planning activities
- Track operational costs, productivity, and profitability; identify opportunities for financial improvement
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies (e.g., safety, OSHA, environmental, licensing)
- Oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Implement and enforce safety protocols; respond to incidents, audits, and inspections
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with departments such as HR, Finance, IT, and Customer Service to align operations with organizational goals
- Serve as a communication bridge between leadership and front-line staff
- Report on operational performance, escalate risks or issues, and contribute to strategic planning
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Contribute to long-term operational strategy, including process optimization, automation, and technology adoption
- Evaluate industry trends and recommend improvements to support scalability and innovation
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational needs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive supervisory or management experience in operations, logistics, manufacturing, or service-based environments
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency with operational software, ERP systems, and data analysis
- Proven ability to train, mentor, and coach employees at multiple levels
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Industry-specific certifications
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Regular movement throughout the workplace to monitor operations and meet with staff
- Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, walking, or stair climbing
- Ability to lift and carry light to moderate loads (up to 25–50 lbs)
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly in operational environments
- Occasional travel between locations or vendors may be required
- Some evening, weekend, or emergency on-call work may be necessary
