Job Summary:
The Activities Assistant is responsible for supporting and implementing a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities designed to enhance the quality of life for residents. This role requires a compassionate individual who can engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Assist in the development and coordination of a diverse range of activities, including arts and crafts, games, social outings, and exercise programs.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one activities that cater to residents' interests and abilities, promoting engagement and participation.
2. Resident Interaction:
- Build rapport with residents by interacting with them in a warm, friendly, and respectful manner.
- Encourage residents' participation in activities and provide support as needed to ensure a positive experience.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with nursing staff, therapists, and other team members to incorporate therapeutic goals into activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding activity schedules and resident preferences.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of resident attendance and participation in activities.
- Provide feedback and observations to the Activities Director on resident progress and engagement.
5. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure a safe and clean environment during all activities, adhering to facility policies and procedures.
- Follow infection control protocols and assist with any necessary equipment or setup for activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry supplies or equipment (up to 25 lbs.).
- Comfortable standing, walking, or moving for extended periods during activities.

Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in recreation, therapeutic activities, or healthcare preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with elderly residents.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with residents.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
